After weeks of auditions, considerations, blood, sweat and tears, I can finally announce that we have the perfect cast!
From casting calls on Facebook, Twitter, Casting Call Pro, Star and Cast Now we received an impressive and overwhelming response. Filtering through around 100 emails, organizing auditions and call-backs these past few weeks have been hectic. However, out of those ‘interesting’ weeks, we now have our cast!
The primary roles have been set in stone, with more minor roles almost as fixed…but we’ll keep you hanging for those little gems.
So, without further adieu, we would like to introduce to you….
Calum Cruickshank-Sutton as Lee.
Calum is an aspiring actor from Cottingham. He has been involved with the arts since high school, and this passion has stayed with him through University. And now Graduated, he is pursuing acting as his ideal career. As well as being involved with What Goes Up, he is also currently involved in a professional Feature Film starring the likes of Jack O’Connell. It was really exciting to see that Calum had travelled down to Lincoln for the audition, showing his enthusiasm for the project, wanting to create this film for the same reasons we wanted to produce it.
Hal Dimond as Ray.
Hal is a University student at Lincoln University, and has recently completed his first year of his Drama degree. After auditioning wearing a triforce t-shirt, we all knew he was perfect for the part of Ray! Even though Hal is just a first year, he showed us great talent, and hopefully this film will be the perfect showcase and impressive addition for his showreel.
Francesca Louise White as Sarah.
Francesca is an up-and-coming actress from Oxford. After Graduating for Exeter University with a BA(Hons) in Drama, she studied in America at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts LA, and has been involved in many film projects. As well as showcasing her acting talent, she is also trained in Stage Combat. The fact that Francesca came up from Oxford for the audition really impressed us…to travel that far for a student led project showed us that she really believed in what we wanted to achieve, so we are really happy to have her on-board!
We can’t wait to start getting this project up on its feet, and to see the characters that have been lovingly and painstakingly created come to life! The days will be long, and the shoots will be relentless…but we will have a FEATURE FILM at the end of it. With the pure, raw talent of the actors, and amazing professionalism and dedication from the production team, by the end of July we will have this film shot (…after being fuelled by countless cans of Redbull and many, many takeaways).
On behalf of the entire team here at What Goes Up, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who auditioned and showed interest, but most importantly to those who showed belief in our huge (and highly ambitious) project. Without you guys, we would literally be sat in a room with a script, rocking backwards and forwards, hugging the shot-list and failing at solving Rubik’s Cubes.
